Understanding the Chechen War: The Patriotic View
By Pioneer (Moscow, Russia)

“My country in her intercourse with foreign nations,
may she ever be right but, right or wrong, our country!”
(Stephen Decatur, lieutenant of the USA Navy, 1779-1820)

During the years of anti-Russian riot in Chechnya (1991-1999) our liberal Ministry of Truth spreaded lots of unbelievable lie in support of Chechen guerrillas. It remains mysterious how so much of rubbish menage to squeeze into the head of the average Russian intelligent. Let us have a brief look at the main themes of anti-Russian propaganda impressed by liberal media on the Russian public during those years.

On the early stage the liberal Ministry of Truth used, at large, Soviet prejudice – “we can not fight with the people – people can not be conquered”; there is no “criminal” or “bad” nations – but there was ill-willed Stalin who by illusory “borders” and criminal “resettling of the whole nations” managed to destroyed traditionally warm relationship between peoples of Caucasus etc. However, somewhere circa 1997 when Chechen ruffians, in a blind reliance on their impunity, began torturing and cutting off the heads of not only Russians, but of their supporters from “civilised countries” and even dare to touching Jews (whole-hearted supporters of their “fight for independence from Russia”) – e.g. Elena Masyuk (Russian liberal journalist of Jewish origin) kidnap – liberal intelligentsia in their media switched to pedalling the “historical guilt” of Russians for 400 years of Chechen oppression and called for the mass repentance. Pacifism was preached in every way and Russian Army, in order to betray it more easily, was named “federal army” (as if any other Army exists in Russia). Short paraphrase of what average intelligentsia have to know about Caucasus could be found here [Ref. 1]. Hence, we have to look through the history on our own, for apart from the insolent lie, there is no any reliable fact to be found in the liberal media.

A widely accepted belief is that mountain people live in the mountains due to some specific features of their national character – love for freedom, exaggregated pride, romanticism etc. In fact, we are dealing with remnants of one of the oldest nations who have hidden away from strong enemies in the impassable Caucasus Mountains centuries ago. However, life in the Mountains is not the easy one. Mountain people mostly do not want to live in their native mountain villages and usually dream about moving to the valley and plains.

Contrary to the Ministry of Truth lie, historical enemies of Chechens are not Russians, but their nomad neighbours who use to cut the throats of anyone who dares to descend from the mountains and to settle in the plains. Due to weak organisation and permanent mutual hatred mountain people could not to establish an effective government to defend plains. Hence, real historical enemies of the Chechens were not Russians, but Kalmyks. When Russian Tsar four centuries ago has allowed Kalmyks to settle on the Volga they indeed terrified Chechens. Before Kalmyks Nogay tribes did not allow Chechens to settle in the plains [Ref. 2]. Russia faced peoples of Caucasus only in the end of 18th – beginning of 19th century.

The Conquest of Caucasus

Russians are usually pictured as colonisators of the Caucasus, oppressing free loving and unbelievably proud local nations. Russian intelligentsia, on the contrary, supported local rascals oppressed by eternal Russian despotism solely due to sublimity of intelligentsia humanist thoughts. Russians really oppressed Caucasus people – no question about it – but how and who exactly is the matter of further investigation. Such analysis would allow us to reveal who exactly won the sympathies of democratic intelligentsia. In the beginning we have to conclude that from the balanced Imperial point of view North Caucasus was not necessary for Russia. There were no any economical reasons for colonisation of the North Caucasus. For instance, locals could not be the subjects of taxation of any substance due to shameful poverty of the proud mountain people (and that was not the way Russia used to deal with new nations in the Empire anyway). Better soil? But quality of Caucasus soil is very questionable. Their soils compared to Mediterranean looks like Polar Tundra in comparison with Central Russia. Russian nobility did not plan to settle in the mountain villages. To the direction of Bosphor and Dardanellae (if anybody had it in mind), that was not the easiest way too. So, there were no pragmatic reasons for Russians to start difficult conquest of Caucasus. According to Russian ethnographer Lev Gumilyov, Georgians only in the end of 18th century managed to persuade half-insane Pavel I to established protectorate over the Georgia. (Pavel was simple-minded and open-hearted rather then insane, for he was directed by the idealistic principles of Orthodox unity and mutual help. Considering Napoleonic wars and Revolutions of that time, distraction of the military force to the unimportant Caucasus was very unwise.) Georgians, who at that time formally belonged to Persia, were in the very difficult situation indeed, unlike Armenians, who enjoyed relative prosperity in the Osman Empire. However, part of Eastern Armenia belonged to Iran, where Christians were unwelcomed. Support of Georgians Orthodox brothers involved Russia in the number of bitter wars with Turkey and Iran. In the first part of 19th century Russia won these wars with minimal efforts. In 1827, Russian Army General I. F. Paskevitch liberated Yerevan (the capital of Armenia). Exactly at that period Russian interests came to interference with the interests of Mountain peoples, exactly at that period Jihad and so-called “national liberation movements against Russian Tsarists oppressors” started.

Actually, Russians were not interested in Mountain people in themselves. Russians were concerned about safety of military supply to the fighting Army. However, Mountain people were hired by the Iran, Turkey and later by Britain to attack Russians convoys. And, beside this, Mountain people had more sound reason to hate Russians. Foreign trade of Mountain people was primarily the slave trade. This business for its profitability in our time is parallel only to financial profiteering and oil export. Selling of the castrated Georgians boys to the Turkish harems was particularly profitable. (After joining Russia in 19th century, Georgian population increased four times.) Of interest is that in the time of the liberal reforms in 20th century Russia, this noble ancient business was restored with traditional Jewish mediation and with full support of human right activists in the rebellious Chechnya.

Caucasus chronicles

Incorporation of Georgia (1801-1810) and Azerbaijan (1803-1813) are out of scope of this paper. Russian military actions against mountain tribes of the Mountain Dagestan, Chechnya and Northwest Caucasus in 1817-1868 are named Caucasus wars.

Since passive resistance to the sporadic attack on the fortified line of Russian border was not military effective, Russian commander-in-chief general Ermolov started in 1816 systematic advance to the Chechnya and Mountain Dagestan. In fact, transposition of the fortified line from the river Terek to the river Sunja marked the beginning of the full-scale war. Ermolov had up to 50 000 of the regular Russian Army and up to 40 000 Cossacks. However, most of these forces were engaged in service on the frontier, in garrison of the newly build fortified towns etc. Only the defence by the Russian Army has allowed peasants to settle on the plains around North Caucasus. Hence, Russia hadn’t force of any substance to fight with Mountain people.

In the middle twenties of the 19th century Myurids in Chechnya and Dagestan started to form imamat – kind of a wee supranational Empire. For the first time Kazi-Murat, proclaimed in 1828 to be “imam” (kind of spiritual emperor) called for “gazavat” (or jihad, a holy war) against “unfaithful” (i.e. Russians). Shamil was his disciple. However, forces of Myurids were softened by the slaughters of the Avars and other local nobility. In 1830 Gazi-Muchamed leaded 8 000 men army in the failed attempt to seize the capital of Avars – aul (village) Hunzah. In 1832 Russians had stormed and occupied Imam residency – fortified aul Gimry. Gazi-Muchamed was killed.

New imam in 1834 managed to seize Hunzah and to kill Anvar tsar and his family for their refusal to join forces against Russians. In revenge he himself was killed and Shamil became the new imam. Russian war with Shamil was conducted with variable success. After a series of defeats on the hands of Russian Army Shamil signed an armistice in 1837 but resumed military activity in 1839. In 1842-1846 Shamil controlled Avaria and part of Dagestan and enjoyed relative successes in his war against Russia. However, since 1846 he has suffered another series of serious defeats on the hand of Russians.

When the Crimean war (1853-1856) had started Russia firmly controlled Caucasus between Black and Caspian seas. In the North Caucasus Mountain Peoples on the both sides of the Military Georgian Road were practically independent: on the East Shamil with his Myurids; on the West Abkhazians and Cherkesses, who, formally recognising Russian authority, freely contacted with Turkey. They were buying weapons and selling slaves – and Russian fleet struggled to prevent it. Russian policy was to defend borderline and to sign peace treaties with Mountains tribes (such Mountaineers were called “peaceful”). Occasionally Russians sent limited numbers of troops to destroy centres of military resistance in mountains. Some Mountaineers consistently supported Russians; other hesitated, betraying treaties and oaths. Apart from foreign support, Mountaineers had another weightful reason to resist Russians – to protect their traditional ways of life (periodic raids on neighbours to take slaves, mostly for further sale). One can called such a war “national”, but how about “liberation”? Only on somebody’s very specific taste.

Crimean war had demonstrated the danger of situation in the North Caucasus and after the war military operations against Mountaineers become constant and persistent. As a result Russians have occupied in April of 1859 the Shamil’s capital – aul Vedeno, and later have stormed and occupied aul Gunib, where Shamil hided with 400 myurids. Shamil surrendered and since that peacefully lived in Kaluga, Central Russia. He died in Medina on his way to Mecca. In November 20 1859 Cherkes forces (up to 2000) under Chamil representative Muchamed-Eminom surrendered to Russians. For a few years myurids continued military operations around Black Sea in hope of English and Turkey support. Officially Caucasus war ended in May 12, 1864 with Russian occupation of Kbaada valley.

There are widespread beliefs that Chechens were the fiercest fighters against Russians. That is not true. The most fierce and firm resistance Russian met on the Mountaineers on the shores of the Black Sea. Local tribes didn't want to surrender and almost completely perished in fight (when surrender was imminent there were cases of collective suicides of whole families); some of them flee to Turkey. Later Russian had no problem on the West of Caucasus – but on the East situation was different. Shamil had despised Turkey Sultan, took English money – so why not to serve White Russian Tsar?

Chechnya and Russia

Historically Chechens are relatively large and one of the most savage tribes in North Caucasus. They never had any governmental structures or nobility and were easily manipulated by the external forces. They served to those who paid more in any given moment. Chechens never have fought Russians on their free will. Chechens who lived on the plains near Terek River constantly supported Russians. After Crimea War Mountain people (including Chechens) considered it to be the great honour to serve in Russian Army. However, during all their history Chechens demonstrated one political dominant – they consistently support those who allowed them to kill, to rob and to enslave their neighbours.

Chechens and Mountain people in general are not hereditary hostile specifically to Russians. In fact, they are equally hostile to everything foreign. The more defenceless are the victims the more aggressive and brave Chechens are. Strong Russian power has pacified mutually hostile Mountain tribes. But in times of troubles full-scale war everyone-against-everyone immediately breaks out. If there were forces in place willing to use the situation against Russia then great sufferings were inflicted upon Russian population and Russia-orientated tribes (Christian Osetins in particular). Numerous Ministry of Truth stories how “evil” Stalin had inspired the mutual wars between friendly Caucasus people are completely groundless. Century old hatred can not be eliminated at once. In order to flame up Chechen rebellion media uses to call Chechens and Ingushs “repressed people” and call for mass repentance of the barbaric Russians. As far as I remember the wrong borderline drawn by Stalin in some Prigorodny district was pictured in mass media as the reason for Oseto-Ingush war in 1992. Lets take memoirs of General Denikin (the head of Russian White Army in Civil War). Already at that time the lies about “historical mistakes” and guilts of Russian government (Tsar government back then) in Caucasus was used to justify Jewish-Bolshevik slaughter of the Terek Cossacks during Russian Civil War (1918-1921).

Citation from his book:

“Ingushes, the least numerous but highly military organised nation became rulers of the North Caucasus. Their moral qualities were described long ago in the Geography textbooks: “Main occupation – cattle breeding and robbery” The last occupation became virtually an art. Politically they followed the same tradition. They became the main force of the Soviet power, their strong supporters. In the same time they did not allowed Soviets in their own land… They robbed their neighbours – Cossacks and Osetins – to correct “historical mistakes”; they robbed Bolsheviks – as a payback for their service; they robbed Kabardins – just as a custom; and they robbed Vladikavkaz citizens – for their helplessness”.

Everyone hated them, yet they did their job with persistence and in a highly organised manner. Soon they became the most prosperous tribe in the North Caucasus. Turkey and Germany supported Ingushes. Chechens were divided: part of them supporters Cossacks in their fight against Bolsheviks, other joined Ingushes. The war between Vaynachs (a common term for Chechens and Ingushes) breaks out, and local Russians had certain relief. The Head of the Soviet of the Peoples Commissars in Terek region was a Georgian Jew, former terrorist Noy-Moysha Chunidze (who robbed Kavrilskiy Bank back in 1905). Under the Jewish-Bolshevik leadership Ingushes and Chechens started the slaughter of Cossacks and occupation of their land. Back to Denikin: “For example, joined military unit of Red Guards and Ingushes wiped out four Cossacks villages on the Sunzen line. Cossacks (upto 10 000 people) were totally driven away”. He continued: “There was certain misunderstanding, for Cossacks wanted support of the Soviets in their fight against Chechens, Ingushes and local Soviet uncontrolled by the central government”. Cossacks in Jewish and intelligentsia mythology back then enjoyed the place later occupied by the Nazi and were destined to be slaughtered without any rational political reasons. In the same way there were no reasons for the organisation of the hunger during collectivisation. The only reason was the revenge of the powerful Jewish Bolsheviks to the population of the regions, which demonstrated strong anti-Semitic tendencies during Civil War.

Chechens and Ingushes received a lot of good from Jewish Bolsheviks during the civil war – they were allowed to slaughter sufficient part of potentially threatening neighbouring population of the Terek Region and to occupy Cossacks villages. However, Vaynachs did not remain loyal to Soviets (as loyalty is not their merit), and when Nazi came to Caucasus they whole-heartedly supported Hitler, received weapons from Germans and started the new phase of the ethnic cleansing. In the beginning of 90-th the verdict from the Law of Chechens deportation was widely cited in liberal press in order to enflame sympathy to oppressed by Stalin Chechens. However the Introductory part of this Law, where Chechen war crimes were described was not cited. This part of the document would show without any doubt that Stalin committed a crime by deportation of Chechens instead of annihilation of them. For instance, USA during the same period imprisoned sufficient part of their population with traces of Japanese blood. Meanwhile, Japanese armed forces never approached USA closer then to the 2000 miles distance. It is hard to imagine what democratic USA government would do with bloodthirsty savages guilty of slaughtering thousands of USA citizens. However, internationalist Stalin did not solve the problem in the proper way due to ideological problems, and Vaynachs get away with relatively small punishment (together with other displaced nations, like Crimean Tartars). Moreover, Khrushev rehabilitated them and restored Checheno-Ingushs Republic. And in the end of 80s leaders of the perestroyka demanded compensation for “oppressed” Chechen and Ingush people. Victims were destined to take compensation from their neighbours, especially Russians.

Our Kosher anti-nazis wanted to use the Chechens in Russia for the same purposes as in the USSR they used nations involved in mass collaboration with nazi during the WWII (Crimea Tartars, Baltic Nations, West Ukrainians etc). Those nations in the name of liberation took part in Nazis genocide on the occupied territories, and yet liberal media proclaimed them to be victims of the Communism, the champions of democracy and free world unity. Every attempt by the government to stop the insolent propaganda was blocked by the liberal media. Intelligentsia threatened to appeal to the World Community, Human Rights and International Law. The unknown Colonel of the Soviet Army Dudaev was hasty promoted to the General and evacuated from Tartu to Chechnya – to make the Revolution. In 1991 he took power in Chechnya without much of formalities – he and his supporters armed with metal sticks had occupied the building of the Grozny local Council and stabbed to death the Head of the local Council Kutsenko. An attempt by the Russian Government in the autumn of the same year to stop the genocide in Chechnya had been blocked by the liberal media who called it “Stalin legacy”. Later Dudaev officially step into possession of the weaponry of the Soviet Army units located in Chechnya, including artillery and tanks. Such a generosity of Gaydar and Chubais was based on the sub-conciseness sympathy of the Human Rights Activists to the Dudaev’s national policy – Chechens robbed, slaughtered, enslaved, raped non-Chechen population (mainly Russian). Russian president left these people to be slaughtered without blink of the eye. But the main reason for such generosity was important economical task which Chechnya play in market reforms in Russia.

The first macroeconomic operation of the Russian democrats and Chechens is so called avizo (certified checks) affair. Highly professional liberal economists in 1992 pretended that they can not understand how money from the banks of rebellious Chechnya were transferred by the faked avizo to the whole country, converted into cash and later disappear without trace. The scale of this operation in the end was equivalent to the third of Russian budget. Those operations had been stopped only in 1994. Of interest, Jewish banks smoothly operated on the Chechens territory until the beginning of the First Chechen war in 1994, despite the unparalleled criminal activity in the region. Chechens get there commissions. However after October 1993 riot, when reformators seized the power in Russia, economical role of Chechnya declined and freedom-loving Republic was used mainly for political reasons. In this paper we shell not discuss reason for the First Chechen war, lets turn to a bit different problems. In 1993, as well in as in 1917, the power in Russia was seized by the anti-Russian regime, which used Chechens against Russians people and Russia with full support of democratic intelligentsia. Even after the start of the first Chechen war liberals couldn’t help themselves from the mocking of the Russian Army, which they themselves together with their Yeltsin, have sent to the war.

However, local population in Caucasus supported Russia, especially Osetins. In 1992 Ingushes unsuccessfully attempted to slaughter Osetins in the Prigorod region near Vladikavkaz. Ingushes insolently claimed this territory to belong to them, referring to “Stalinist crimes”. They tried to take this land by force, but were defeated by the local militia with later intervention of the Russian Army. Ingushes were forced totally evacuate seized land and Ministry of Truth published long after Human Rights Activists regrets for the lack of effective weapon in the hands of Ingushes which prevent them from total slaughtering of the Osetins during one day occupation. Moreover, they were forced by the brutal Russian Army to evacuate territory. However, Ingushes have learned their lesson. They decisively braked with Chehcens and started business of negotiations between Russia and theirs wild Chechen brothers. Ingushes republic was granted independence within Russia and enjoyed sufficient tax breaks and other fortunes (for a long time existed even special offshore zone). Also, Ingushes had received substantial humanitarian aids from the abroad. Ingushes were involved in the slave trade and semi-legally supplied Chechens with weapons. As a result a wee republic with unemployable population less in size then any region in Moscow build the new capital with lavish palaces. President has bought personal plane and tried to influence Russian policy. For example, Ingushes were insolent enough to criticise publicly Russian union with Belarus. When first war with Chechnya break out Ingush President Aushev publicly threatened to call for UN (meaning NATO) intervention in the region “to prevent humanitarian catastrophe”.

Chechens self-proclaimed themselves to be subject of international law under the name “Republic Ichkeria” and also had proclaimed independence from Russia. Despite the abound international help (Chechnya was filled with foreign businessmen, physicians “without borders”, historians, linguists, and other CIA “humanitarians” dressed in civil), the aim of Chechens was not to cede from Russia but only to cede from Russian Criminal Code. To this regard the Chechens wishes have met full support of the democratic Russian government. After General Lebed’ signed Hasav Yurt capitulation and unconditionally withdraw Russian troops from the Republic, it was officially recognised in Moscow that Chechens could be pacified only with economical aid (in fact with regular tribute). New openly criminal Chechen government was officially recognised by Russia as a lawful and enjoyed substantial subsidisation, including free supplement with gas and electricity. Free supply of the Chechen Army with electricity and gas was reluctantly stopped only in the beginning of the October 1999, when Russian Army occupied most of Chechnya. Chechens government officials were allowed to fly on their own aeroplane abroad without duty control. “Law enforcement bodies” of the independent Chechnya were supplied with blank Russian passports. Generally, Chechnya enjoyed full Russian supporting foreign affairs. Battles in Dagestan revealed the level of support of the Chechnya by Russian democratic government – Chechens were armed with the most up-to-date weapon systems taken straight from the arsenals of the Russian Army.

Since non-Chechen population in Chechnya quickly disappeared (was slaughtered, enslaved, or fled), Chechen criminal mobs with full support of the Russian democratic government widened their activity on the other territories of the Russia. Now hostages were taken not only near Chechen borders, but also practically on the whole territory of the democratic Russia. If some of Chechen bandits occasionally fell in the hands of the Russian law enforcement forces he usually was quickly exchanged to hostages held in Chechnya. Sometimes, when specially brutal and wild Chechen bandit was occasionally arrested in Russia then high rank Russian official was taken hostage during specially organised operation. He was further exchanged to criminal in question. By the way, already when Chechnya became in fact independent from Russia, more then half of the Chechen population fled to “hated imperialistic Russia”. Chechnya itself become safe heaven for drugs production and trafficking, printing of the faked money. Chechen territory was used by criminals (not only Chechens) as an escape from justice. Recently well-to-do Chechens build their new houses with special in-build rooms for slaves and hostages. To keep boys for certain needs was very fashionable [Ref. 3]. Every attempt to organise resistance to Chechens was treated by Ministry of Truth, human rights activists and intelligentsia as manifestations of Russian Nazism and imperialistic legacy. Many interesting subjects can be traced in Checheno-Democratic Russian relationship. For example, Berezovsky, the author of the famous phrase “Russia will pay ANY price to Chechnya”, in the process of pacification of Chechnya tried to legalise Chechens terrorist mobs and to include them to regular Russian Army as an independent units. The aim was to obtain independent guard, loyal only to the Kremlin family, for support of Jewish oligarchs by the Russian Army was questionable, to put it mildly. Only special features of the Chechens national character made this project impossible. This entire democratic idyll ended in August of 1999 – when Chechens invaded to Dagestan and the second Chechen war has began.

Russia, Islam and the West

Shamil’s imamat was in fact the supranational Moslem Empire. Shamil brutally suppressed any national movement in his Empire and put to death much more local nobles, then local nobility had lost during all the wars with Russia. This Empire was cemented not with religious fanaticism (which was always foreign to Caucasus) but with hope to rob neighbours and with terror. Adat (local rules) always has priority in Caucasus over chariat (Moslem rules).

The Ministry of Truth pictured the Caucasus conflict as the war with the whole Moslem world. And at the first glance persons in green badges shouting “Allah”, which is “Akbar” are very prominent. Hence the “only way” for Russia was told to turn for help to the Big Brother in the West, who also suffers from ill-minded Moslem fundamentalists. The West tries to promote in Russia the idea of joined action against Moslem nomad hordes in the name of the “civilised “ (or “white”) unity. However, there is also the opposite, more idiotic point of view.

Analysis shows that support of independent Chechnya goes from West [Ref. 4] or from the Moslem Countries (Turkey, Saudi Arabia), who wouldn’t fart without America permission, let alone to start secret war with Russia. The same is true about Georgia and Azerbaijan support of the Chechens rebellion. Or take, for instance, the “foreign legion” of the Chechen Army under the educated in USA Jordan citizen Khattab. He was placed to fight with Russia in Afghanistan and later disposed to Chechnya to continue this war. There are no Chechen “fundamentalists” without links to the West. Recently France Press tried to claim that Iran started the holy war against Russia, however, Iran itself declines it. True, semi-mythical Osama Ben-Ladin claimed to be involved on the Chechen side. Aforementioned Ben-Ladin, as American Ministry of Truth depicted him, started “holy war” against the whole world and – here we go – now fights against Russia. According to the media-created legend, energetic Saudi millionaire went to Afghanistan to help Talibs in their fight against communists. In the other words, he acted as a CIA representative responsible for supplies and co-ordination for the Afghan Talibs. Then there were a couple of the acts of terror against Americans embassies in various small countries. The search for responsible was not too long – former friend, now “Moslem fanatic” was proclaimed responsible. In order to demonstrate this American shot into the nowhere a couple of missiles. Now Moslem terrorists of the whole world obtained wealthy and powerful leader Osama Ben-Ladin. Who could ask for more? The question is – where he keeps his billions? May be in cash in Afghan currency? The sums involved would not escape attention of the Uncle Sam. Luckily for the world terrorism USA did not bother to search for the assets of the bloodthirsty fanatic terrorist. And where new “sword of Moslem” leads faithful? Certainly, with their fighting experience they could in weeks occupy Alma-Ata, Tashkent and other former Soviet Republics in Asia. Strangely enough, Moslem wisdom and CIA vakhabits word leads them instead to the distant Caucasus to free Chechnya from the rule of unfaithful. There wild Moslem hordes will meet there Orthodox Holy Army under the command of Gaidar and Chubyas, who suddenly became unbelievably chauvinistic. The dream of the geopolitician!

To better understand Western approach to Russia in relation to Caucasus rebellion we have to refer to war in Tajikistan, which lasted for years. This war in terms of longevity, number of victims and fierce of fighting clearly overcomes first Chechen war [Ref. 5]. Yet, though Russian troops were employed on the formally foreign territory, West never had any complaint about evil Russian imperialism. Even IMF failed to see any harm for Russian finance as a result of this war. Why is that? The answer is – victory of the “Islamists” would raise Iran influence, and Iran is unquestionable enemy of the USA. That’s why human rights activists (with few exemptions) kept quite. The Ministry of Truth did not allow pacifism in regard to this war in media, and human rights activists did not insisted.

West fights the war against Russia in the South, using such weapon as “Islamism” – no responsible politician has any doubt in it (excluding absolutely reptile democrats and Human right activists). The question is what are the long-term aims of the West in this war? How the West is going to use “Islamism”? And what is this “Islamism”?

There is no such thing as united “Moslem world” for a long time. Moslem countries are very different; they have deep political, economical and cultural differences. Even Arab countries, very similar in many ways can not act united to solve certain international problems. Nowadays, Moslem countries have less in common then even Christian countries. There is no reason to believe that united Moslem countries would attack Russia for its war against contemplated Chechens. They have more important things to do. Total number of Moslem population in Russia do not exceed 4%, and the minority of this population is truly religious, even fewer wish to follow Moslem way of life, and out if this low number there is very few people inclined to the religious fanaticism or so called Moslem fundamentalism. Orthodox Moslems treat our Moslem population as opportunists. Despite the abandoned prophecies of the politicians, Caucasus population remains deaf to the calls for the Holly War against Russia. Vakhabbits were able to control only regions directly sponsored by foreign investors.

The idea of “Islamism” had been introduced in 19th century British Empire. “Islamism” itself is harmless for the West and can’t consolidate Moslem world, but is very convenient for the external manipulations. The only big fiasco of this concept was the result of imprudent manipulations in 1978 Iran. Secret services of the USA and Western Europe acted in discordance. However, consequences were not fatal for the West.

There is a widespread belief that the West would act now in the same way as it acted during the Cold War, when the West supported economy of its allies. There is a belief that the West would invest in the Central Asia economy, mainly to construction of the oil tubes build not on the Russian territory - through the Pakistan, Afghanistan and/or Caucasus or Turkey. However, even relatively sensible project of the Caspian oil transportation does not look very realistic after close examination [Ref. 6]. Hence political and economical illusions enforced by West are aimed to support political and economical disintegration on the territory of the former USSR. That would result in chaos in the West orientated countries. At the first glance, that is of no worry for Russia – in the nearest future neighbours would suffer mass impoverishment and then hopelessness of anti-Russian policy would be evident. As a result, pro-Western government of Aliev, Shevardnadze, Nazarbayev etc. would be gone. That is true, but who will succeed them?

Russian philosopher Konstantin Krylov proposed the idea of the “modern barbarity”, i.e. society which exploits “civilisation” [Ref. 7]. This phenomenon is not in any way new, however, only since 19th century it became prominent due to technology progress. Such progress allows “civilised” nations to support numerous “barbarians”, the whole nations of “barbarians”. Certainly, Chechnya is such a “barbarian” nation with “barbarian” governmental structure. However, Krylov conception in this case can be complemented with the new idea: one “civilisation” can use “barbarians” against the other. The lesson of Afghanistan, Kosovo and Chechnya demonstrate that the real goal of the West is creation of the zones of mass poverty with degraded “normal” governmental structures. The West supports “barbarian” governments with criminal and parasite politics. By creation Bzejinsky’s zones of instability made of “barbarian” governments the West obtains the tool to manipulate Russia, and not only Russia (Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, China etc.). The crucial part of this strategy – not to allow Russia to use adequate measures to fight terrorist government on its territory. To achieve this goal the West relies not only to sanctions (which are not totally effective, otherwise there will be no need for the zone of buffer “barbarian” governments), but mostly to ideological pressure, heavily relying on the Soviet prejudices, intelligentsia [Ref. 8], and modern myth of “International Humanitarian Law” [Ref. 9]. To orchestrate it, the West has hired numerous Human Rights activists. The widespread beliefs do exist that the West requires allies in its fight against terrorism and also fears refugee exodus from the war zones. This is largely exaggerated. In fact, this is deliberate lie. Terrorists can succeed only when they had support among the ruling class. Otherwise government can easily neutralise terrorists – if only government wish to do so. And, of course, West is absolutely indifferent to the refugee problem, how to warm and to feed future refugees. West has problems of its own.

What can be done with anti-Russian “barbarism”? Each case must be treated separately, in view of the concrete situation. So what to do with Chechens and Ingushes? Chechens in their heart do not consider non-Chechens as a human being, even their next-door neighbours. The only question is when circumstance would allow their feelings to be implemented. For instance, in one village near Chechnya certain Chechen in October 1999 shoot 40 of his Russian neighbours (mostly elderly people and children) in revenge for Russian “aggression” in Chechnya. There were no details in media – who cares, it’s not the Holocaust anyway – and human rights activists were busy with analysing Russian missile explosion in the Grozny weapon market, which left 46 Chechens dead. Shamefully, as a result they failed to demand immediate seizure and punishment of those Russian outlaws who organised Lynch trial on above mentioned Chechen hero (he was caught and punished by the relatives of his victims).

Our two hundred years experience demonstrates that hopes for the integration of Chechens and Ingushes to our society are almost utopian. The idea of separation – defeatist by nature –wouldn’t work out for a simple reason that “barbarians” could not and would not live separately from their feeding civilisation. The right design would probably require tens of years. But it is possible.

  1. Separate Chechens and Ingushes who prove to be loyal to Russia – those people will obtain Russian citizenship.
  2. Liquidate those who fought the war with Russia – took part in military actions or were engaged in violence against civil Russian population.
  3. Other must be placed in the concentration camps under strict police supervision aiming their future deportation from Russia. An excellent idea would be to export Chechens and Ingushes to their Moslem brothers. Equally important is to use Western worries on the fate of Chechens refugees and to establish Chechens refugee camps in the human rights activists’ heartland – in the suburbs of Berlin, London and Paris. That would teach local public lesson or two

The Law on crimes against Russian people is highly desirable. The tribunal must be established to punish Chechens bandits regardless the time of crime; under the same Law human rights activists, democrats, reformers, intelligentsia and other bastards must be brought to quick and effective court martial justice.

Niccolo Machiavelli: “What must be done with population of the rebellious Valdekiana”

“… That is how Rome dealt with rebellions; they thought that loyalty must be bought with goods or they must be treated in such way, that they will never be feared in future. Any middle way looked dangerous for Rome. When they act they act one way or another, making peace with those with whom peace was possible. When peace was not possible they treated those people in such way that they would never be dangerous again.

Hence, if history teach us, we must follow the example of the people who rule the world and treat Valdekiana accordingly. Romans teach exactly how to rule, and as they rule differentially, according to the guilt, we must to act accordingly, judging the guilt of our rebellious…

Rome have found out that we must either to benefit rebellious nation or to destroy them completely, any third way is very dangerous.”

2. Relationship between Kosher people and Chechens worsened in May 1997 when Chechens kidnapped Jewish journalist Elena Masyuk. She was known as a personal friend of Basayev and whole-hearted supporter of the Chechen cause. She used to describe publicly convenience of the Chechens prison and through media advocated the surrender for Russian soldiers during first Chechen war. After “brave Jewish girl” experienced the convenience of the Chechen prison herself, she honestly informed people through media that in Grozny market one can buy videotapes with scenes of prisoners torture and killing. That was the favourite hobby of the local Chechen population. When Masyuk was bought back for 2 billions of dollars, her meeting with Yeltsin was shown on every TV channel. Probably intelligentsia didn’t stage anything more vile during whole Yeltsin term – to stage public celebration of the returning back from kidnapping of the Jewish journalist, who were looking for money and fame in Chechnya and yet to live behind thousands of Russian soldiers in Chechen slavery. Those soldiers were sent to war by the democrats and their beloved Commander-en-Chief. I just have to remind that Hasav Yurt treaty signed by Lebed did not mentioned returning of the prisoners of war – Russian hostages and slaves.

3. In February 1997, just before the democratic elections of the new Chechen president praised by human right activists all over the world, Chamil Basayev told to media that Chechens would not allow children hostages go back to Russia for the fear that they will grow as Chechens enemies. However, that was “no news” for media.

4. For example, four British engineers, beheaded by Chechens in their relentless national search for to freedom and independence (and tortured beforehand in order to make them to confess in espionage in front of cameras). Engineers developed in Chechnya wireless telephone connections, and, as media happily announced, investment had to reach $ 300 bln mark. Such sums West did not invest in development of wireless telephones even in Moscow. That was enough money to supply every Chechen with personal telephone, and put another one to his ass. British business probably considered slave trade and drug producing respectable and profitable enough, so their investment had to give a good return. Certainly, if we shall lay aside an absurd suggestion that British had created military communication lines under the civil cover. By the way, Chechen representative in London is 100% British, who converted to Islam after the University and become unbelievably fundamenadalistic. Just like Lorenz Arabian before him.

5. Civil war in Tajikistan was very cruel indeed. The whole villages were slaughtered mercilessly. People left alive were unskinned on the regular basis. One side proclaimed extreme Islamist, anti-Russian ideas. Mullah, the head of Tadjik opposition, announced that in order to get rid of Soviet legacy it highly desirable to eliminate all the Tadjiks older then 3 years (by the way, it remind moaning of liberal intelligentsia that while present generations are alive no successful reforms are possible). Certainly, just due to common sense Russia supported the opposite side. And human right activists certainly supported the opposite side.

8. Well-known human rights activist Valeria Novodvorskaya always expressed common opinions of liberal intelligentsia. During first Chechen war she had organised money donations to buy weapons for Chechen guerrillas on the street of Moscow. Below I cite official resolution of the Democratic Party of Russia about death of Djohar Dudaev.

Death of the Hero

Djohar Dudaev is killed. Mean and dishonest people had killed him. This people are trying to enslave Chechens. This people are members of Soviet zoderkommands, whose only profession since 1917 is to suppress other people freedom as well as their own freedom. KGB agents, who still have dirty hands, mean hearts and empty heads, killed him.

Djohar Dudaev died unconquered, defending his country freedom. He died on hid land. He can be envied. He stands together with Spartan king Leonidas, Vertsingetoriks, Joanna D’Arc and Mahatma Gandhi. Humanity suffered a great loss. We feel together with Chechen people and we share their grief and their aim: independence. We grief for Djohar Dudaev, we grief for him as for human right activist, as for our partner, as for martyr of freedom, as for our relative. We consider ourselves to be part of Chechen resistance. Together with Chechens we call for Army withdrawal from Chechnya and for independent and free Chechnya.

9. Human Rights activists always closely followed progress of Human Rights in Chechnya. For example, when the relatives of a Chechen hostage received video with torture of their loved one, human rights activists nevertheless point to progress. Look, they said, now Chechens cut only half of hostage finger, unlike last time, when they cut the whole finger. And this month they beheaded far less people then in the previous month. This is a progress, and only unjust use of Russian force can stop it. Chechens had to support their family! They have children!

Certainly, hundreds of thousands of refugees from Chechnya and victims of the Chechen were of no interest at all for the human rights activists.

The well-known human rights activist, academic Sakharov’s follower Sergei Kovalyov, demonstrated the similar attitude to Chechen rebellion. When Basayev took the personnel and mothers-to-be of the maternity home in Russia as hostages Kovalyov remarked that Basayev is Robin Hood, who does not realise social harms of his actions. I only hope that one day good old Kovalyov (and not him alone) would be hanged in the central square of the Russian city of Grozny.
